I am a concerned parent dealing with the limitations of the Maine mental health system. My son will be released from the state hospital soon. The facilities recommendation has been for him to remain in Augusta or preferable go as far away as Bangor because they feel he needs to be near a state facility that would provide him with more over site with his care. My feelings are it's just as important to have family around that care about you, which is just as important to a persons well being. The problem is I wish there was more of me and my hope where for him to return to the Portland area.
