  3. Worried Mom of Wonderful SonMay 24, 2008 @ 12:16 AM
Just learned that my son who is 24 has been hearing voices since age 14 or 15. Saw a movie and thought they'd lock him up so he never spoke about it, just kinda drew into himself and music. He's been medicating with alcohol for several years. About 7 months ago another voice visited him or came upon him"(I don't know which terms to use- sorry). They shortly started speaking to each other, ignoring him. Now they are arguing with each other and telling him he's better off "not here" - sorry can't even type the "d" word when it comes to my boy. He says the alcohol isn't blocking it anymore. He's under a lot of pressure right now. He's now taking valium and says it helps, but with his job he doesn't want to go to hospital. He has an appt with a therapist but not for a couple of months. WHAT I DESPARATELY NEED is to know where to START. What I've seen so far medically is scary. All drugging. I need to know EVERYTHING. Can somewhere put together a list of articles / books to start with on like a level A and work my way up to a level Z. Baby steps is best for me to grasp and learn and retain. I will deeply appreciate any help. I've got to help or save my boy. He's one in a million.

    Hi Worrried Mum

Both of you could learn about voices together.

Start with "The Voice Inside" you can find it on this site here

Next you could read "Accepting Voices" more information and how to order here

Also you could use this useful guide to coping with voices called "Working with Voices" more information and how to order here

    Best wishes

    Paul
