England: National Hearing Voices Network

National Hearing Voices Network

Introduction:
The first UK hearing Voices group was formed in 1988 in Manchester. Following a national conference held in London in 1990, the Independent on Sunday newspaper published a prominent article on the topic which generated a lot of correspondence. As a result they decided to establish a network of voice hearers and individuals who were interested in the experience of hearing voices.

Activities:
The National Hearing Voices Network, based in Manchester continues to be very active with the support of their co-ordinator Julie Downs. The Network has recently moved into new office premises (see address below).

There are now over 180 self-help groups, a telephone helpline and training and education initiatives. HVN publishes a quarterly newsletter and has its own website.

London also has its own development worker, Jacqui Dillon, to help co-ordinate voices groups across the capital, London recently received a large grant from the government to develop work in London.

I have had a voice for 2 years now but it seems to be residing. Can the voice be over rided with something else in that part of a person's phychology because even though i cannot consciously hear the voice sometimes, it can harm my revision for example by either talking softly or talking to my subconscious. Emmersing yourself in your life positively should do it right.
