Hywel Davies

Hywel Davies was born in Pembrokeshire, Cymru (Wales) in 1954. Hywel was born as a breach baby, after a long and complicated birth lasting two days. An only child, raised on a farm in Pembrokeshire, he attended a primary school in Milford Haven and then attended a boarding school in Gloucestershire until 1972. In 1970 Hywel informally changed his name from Howell.
Hywell attended Birmingham University, where he graduated with a degree in Spanish and French, going onto obtain a Postgraduate Certificate in Education at Aberystwyth University in 1978.
Hywel is a former teacher of Modern languages and a retired part-time lecturer of Spanish.
In 1983, Hywel was labelled by psychiatry as a "schizophrenic". He has campaigned, indriectly and directly, in the field of mental health since 1987. He is a founder member of the Penbrokeshire Mind Sir Benfro, the Pembrokeshire Hearing Voices Group and the Hearing Voices Network Cymru.
Hywel issued a book of poetry in 2004 called "Syllables For Change".
Hywel believes in reincarnation, astrology and complementary therapies. He believes that he was Judas Iscariot in a previous life, a Cathar (13th century French "heretic" and James VI of Scotland/James Ist of England in his previous lives. He is a member of the Roman Catholic Church in this life, as a consequence of an unusual experience in a church in Pamplona, Navarra, Spain, during the evening of the final Saturday of September 1982.
Hywell's hobbies include walking (yes, keeping his feet on the ground), listening to music, reading, writing and occasoinal travel.
Hywell has been hearinf a nice voice since about 1965. He has been hearing nasty and nice voices since February 1973. He expereinced his first vision around 1961.
