Sara is a Psychiatric Refuser and Survivor Activist. Terence McLaughlin, 1947 - 2007
Dr Terence McLaughlin (1947 - 2007) was executive editor of the Asylum Magazine for Democratic Psychiatry, a founder member of the Campaign for Abolition of the Schizophrenia Label , and a key activist in the hearing voices movement since its beginnings, you can find out more about Terence by clicking on his name.

Joachim is an Intervoice supported trainer and Experience Focused Counsellor. In February 2007, he was commissioned by Professor Romme (president of Intervoice) & Dr. Escher (secretary of Intervoice) to start the training programme in Germany. Dr Ben Gray is a Senior Research Fellow. He is particularly interested in people's experiences of mental health problems and also the difficulties faced by their family carers. In 2003, Ben was diagnosed with schizophrenia and spent a total of twelve months in hospital. In 1983, Hywel was labelled by psychiatry as a "schizophrenic". He has campaigned, indriectly and directly, in the field of mental health since 1987. Louise Pembroke is a survivor activist with first hand experience of hearing voices and self-harm. She has worked in local and national user/survivor groups over the last 20 years. Karen Taylor is an RMN with 16 years experience in the NHS in England . Based in Scotland, Karen is Director of ‘Working to Recovery Ltd, alongside Ron Coleman. Dr. Sandra Escher has been involved in the Hearing Voices Movement from the very beginning. For the last 20 years she has organised the hearing voices congresses in Holland, which are held every two years, as well as the four congresses she has organised for INTERVOICE in Maastricht. Julie Downs has had a long association with the Hearing Voices Network starting in the early 90's as a member of the HVN Steering Group. Working voluntarily, Julie who was a creative therapist facilitating women's and art groups. She later went on to become a hearing voices trainer and organiser of Hearing Voices Conferences.
