Maths Jesperson

Maths Jesperson leads activities on hearing voices in Lund and has been a longstanding supporter of the Hearing Voices Movement and of the INTERVOICE steering group.
Biography and field of activities
- Born in 1954
- From 1980 to 1981 inmate of an old mental hospital
- From 1982 to 1988 producer of a professional theatre group as well as local politician of the Green
Party
- Converted 1984 to Catholicism
- Since 1988 regional secretary of RSMH (the Swedish National Association for Social and Mental
Health)
- Founding member of ENUSP (the European Network of Users and Survivors of Psychiatry) in 1991
- From 1991 to 2000 editor of its European Newsletter
- Initiator of three internationally acclaimed projects in the mental health field: Hotel Magnus Stenbock
(a user-run hotel), PO-Skåne (a service with professional personal agents for psychitric users) and
the Stumpen-Ensemble (a theatre group with psychiatric users, drug addicts and homeless people as
actors)
- Parallel research at the University of Lund (theatre history)
- Married in 2004, lives with wife and 1-year old daughter in Malmö, Sweden
