Folks from Illinois, Michigan, and Minnesota are planning to start an HVN Midwest network. This will include a collaborative website and possible virtual (Skype) meetings to include those voice hearers and facilitators living in communities without a local group.

Nev Jones (Chicago and Evanston)
Nev co-facilitates the Evanston group and co-founded CHV in 2011. Nev’s research, peer work, and activism are all guided by a passionate commitment to social justice & the development of user-guided alternatives and theory, and informed by her own experiences (as both a service user and family member) of psychosis, recovery and the mental health system. Nev is currently a psychology doctoral student at DePaul University and an active mental health services researcher.

About Chicago Hearing Voices
Chicago Hearing Voices was formed by a group of local voice hearers, service users/consumers, family members, clinicians and researchers interested in promoting the hearing voices movement in urban and suburban Chicago.
In addition to organizing events and workshops we hope to facilitate the development of local hearing voices groups and provide additional resources and ongoing support.
Although the name “hearing voices” might imply an exclusive focus on voice hearing, we aim to fully include other experiences often labelled psychotic, including unusual thoughts & feelings and unusual experiences involving other senses (vision, touch, smell, and taste). In line with the international hearing voices movement, our emphasis is on approaching such experiences as intrinsically meaningful and often connected to individuals’ life events and histories.
